The Jaguar E-type was introduced in on the 1961 Geneva car show. The now famous Jaguar E-type series I with number plate 9600 HP was driven overnight at maximum speed to the show to make it in time for the unveiling. The rest is history.
With its 3.8 litre six-in-line engine originated from the XK150S it was the one of the fastest cars of its time. Disc brakes all around and independent suspension on each corner made it a very modern car indeed. And that shape..
In 1964 the engine was enlarged to 4.2 litre. Subsequently the topspeed was now 241 km/h and the gearbox now had a synchromesh on the first gear.
Although nowadays the Series I is the most valuable car the Series II was seen as an big improvement. The car now had uncovered headlights (fogging problems occured on the Series I headcovers) and better cooling, bigger brakes and a redsigned and more comfortable interior made this improvement possible. A 2+2 was also available even with automatic gearbox.
This model by Cult Models resembles the purer shape in a delicious colour combination. Therefore this model is a must have for every Jaguar fan.
