This fabulous ex-Fangio 250F has been owned by the Corner family for many years. The Maserati 250F is the breed of car that epitomises the 2½-litre front-engined Formula 1 era of 1954–60. The Maserati 250F took part in the first and last races of that classic period. The finest flowering of the 250F came in 1957 with the lightweight version in which Juan Manuel Fangio won the last of his five World Championship titles.
Three lightweights Maserati 250F were built. Chassis 2528 drove to victory with Fangio on the helm in the Monaco Grand Prix. About the writer
Ian Wagstaff began writing motor racing reports in the early 1970s, having started work in the production department of ‘Motor Sport’ magazine. He went on to become Press Officer at Silverstone circuit towards the end of that decade. Ian has been a freelance journalist since 1986 subsequently Ian has twice won the Guild of Motoring Writers’ Montagu of Beaulieu Trophy. Also he received the American Auto Racing Writers and Broadcasters Association’s ‘Book of the Year’ award. He is particularly intrigued by both endurance and Indy car racing. And has written books about the Le Mans 24 Hours and the Indianapolis 500.
